Something Special Flowers, Blairgowrie
Something Special Flowers in Blairgowrie have been doing their bit to green their operations and offering for years.
Specifically, they use plastic vases recycled from milk bottles which they offer a 10% OFF scheme to refill the vase or
£1 back on return of the vase, instead of using cellophane wrapping, which shows that no operation is too small or too big to offer a deposit return scheme for packaging. They are always on the lookout for more sustainable solutions to their packaging.
They have also recently introduced upcycled furniture as their display units. At their till area you will find an old dresser with the mirror removed and Perspex screen in its place.
They also changed the lightbulbs to LED in the sales area a couple of years ago.
They also take the stance that in order to reduce the road miles of a flower delivery, they do not use a courier to fill the gap left by leaving the relay service . So now, if a customer comes into the shop wanting to send to another area, they simply look up a florist that is local to that area and give the details to their customer.
They believe a big part in greening their business is customer education as consumers must become more aware of the environmental issues arising from cellophane and other similar packaging.

Something Special Flowers are a fantastic example of how a small business can become greener in many different ways. From establishing deposit-return schemes, to reusing, and actively reducing the CO2 footprint for their clients, Something Special Flowers has really committed to helping the local area become more sustainable!
